Abstract

The tourism sector is one o f the development division of the economy relies heavily on an area the scope of their activities are very broad, enlarge multiflier effect on the occasion, work business opportunities, and income distrihution, so that economic contrihutions can he perceived hy the community, the local government, and the central government. In this study, the experience of developing mangrove forest tourism in Tarahan Village, Katibung Subdistrict, South Lampung, is managed by a Village-Owned Enterprise by utilizing local knowledge and local community wisdom to become an interesting phenomenon. The experience of developing community-based mangrove forest tourism in Tarahan Village provides a clear picture that local communities can and are able to develop tourism in their villages, by utilizing the conditions of their natural wealth and potential cultural diversity. In the use o f mangrove forests as the development of tourism and economic growth, the community, Tarahan Village has traditional wisdom in managing and utilizing the
mangrove forests in the village. This traditional wisdom is reinforced by the unwritten regulations agreed upon by all members o f the community in the use o f village mangrove forests and community awareness manifested in actions such as planting or rehabilitating damaged mangrove forests, especially in the village mangrove forest area which is preceded by concern for cultivating mangroves.
